Videos

A group of colleagues and I challenged each other, and ourselves to embark on an uncomfortable, but inspiring journey to create a series of 30 videos for 30 days – one video each day for the month of June. Uncomfortable, because who loves to put themselves up on the internet, vulnerable and exposed for all to see, and inspiring because taking this challenge means stepping outside our comfort zone and trying something new! So here they are – for all to see!

What did I realize about myself in doing this project? That I’m far more comfortable in front of the camera than I thought I would be!! Share with me your thoughts, and who knows… maybe this video challenge will be here for good!

Story Time with Lara Presents: “How I Got Dinner On The Table In 14 Minutes”

Posted by on Jul 13, 2011 in Video | 0 comments

Ever have one of those nights where you’re suddenly STARVING and the take-out menus are crying out to you “pick me, pick me!!” You spend a few minutes battling back and forth, debating the pros and cons of ordering in (quick, and effortless) versus cooking something at home (not quick, and not effortless).

When you’re so hungry, you feel like you can’t even comprehend getting in the kitchen to chop and saute because you’ll just NOT MAKE IT! Soooo HUNGRY! I’ve been there. A lot. And I’m sure you have to.

This happened to me earlier this month, so I made a little video about it!

Organic Strawberry Picking

Posted by on Jun 22, 2011 in Video | 0 comments

Why did I hop a train to travel 1 hour north, and then take a care ride a further 2 hours to pick strawberries? (no, the answer is not because I’m crazy….) Watch this video to find out!

Why I’m Anti-Antibacterial Soaps!

Posted by on Jun 17, 2011 in Video | 0 comments

Anti-anti-bacterial… yes, that’s a double negative! Everyone these days seems to be obsessed with hand-sanitizers and anti-bacterial everything. I think this stinks, and that good old soap and water isn’t getting the credit it’s due. Watch this video to hear why I’m so anti-anti-bacterial, and what I use instead to stay squeaky clean…

What’s the Deal With Non-Stick Cookware?

Posted by on Jun 17, 2011 in Video | 0 comments

Non-stick cookware is like the canary in the coal-mine (you know, the ones that die first and are a sign for miners to get out!) – literally…. because birds exposed to toxic fumes from regular, normal household use of teflon coated pans  drop dead. Do you really need more of a warning than that? In this short video, I explain why teflon, and all non-stick is a real no-no and what to use instead.

Stress! (And one way I disarm it)

Posted by on Jun 14, 2011 in Video | 0 comments

Ack! Stress! It gets all of us. The one thing that stresses me out more than anything is dealing with customer service reps! I think my blood pressure just shot up while typing that. Stress is a killer though so it’s important to shut it down an disarm it when it pops up.

What do you do to diffuse or disarm stress in your life?

Food is Social

If you’re like a gazillion other people out there – you often find yourself eating alone – at your desk, on your couch, in your car. I want this to STOP! Why? Because food is social. Watch the video to hear more…

My Short Take on Why Sweating Is Cool!

Posted by on Jun 14, 2011 in Video | 0 comments

Okay, sweating may not exactly be cool, but it is important, and for that reason I embrace the sweat! Sweating is one of the ways our bodies eliminate toxins. Don’t block those sweat glands with antiperspirant – use deodorant instead!

Super Easy Shaved Zucchini Salad

Posted by on Jun 14, 2011 in Video | 0 comments

Damn it was hot in NY last week! Easily reaching the 98 degree mark if not above. This person right here does not enjoy scorching hot weather like that, and likewise, does not like cooking in it. Solution? No-cook, raw, ready in an instant shaved zucchini salad. Yum!
